About Rich Gorman
Rich Gorman is the owner of Gorman Training, Inc. in Raleigh North Carolina. He brings more than 25 years of selling experience to his clients.
Rich began his career in the 80’s when he went to work for Marion Laboratories. Marion was an emerging pharmaceutical company based in Kansas City. While at Marion, Rich learned the power of a sales driven culture from Marion’s owner, Ewing Kauffman. Mr. K, as he was known, was one of the greatest entrepreneurs of our time and Rich’s early thoughts about selling were shaped by this special leader. Rich spent 12 years at what is known today as Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals.
After Marion, Rich worked for another emerging pharmaceutical company called Andrx Pharmaceuticals. During this time, Rich was able to gain high level business development and marketing experience as a leading member of the team launching an initial public offering for a new division of the company. After Andrx, Rich became the CEO of a consumer goods company in Florida known as Key West Aloe. Here he gained experience in manufacturing, retail, and distribution. Rich was then recruited to start up a new pharmaceutical company based out of Georgia. Rich began with no sales or employees and grew the company to a staff of 40 and sales of better than 20 million dollars.
It was then that Rich decided to pursue his passion and become a resource for other sales driven organizations. Rich purchased the Sandler franchise and began operations in Raleigh North Carolina. The Downtown Clubs of Raleigh, comprised of the Capital City Club and Cardinal Club, recently assembled their key ClubCorp staff members for a timely seminar in the latest social media marketing strategies presented by Raleigh social media expert Martin Brossman. The session focused on how to use LinkedIn and other web tools to enhance membership, sales and customer service.

Martin Brossman, a social media expert known for his lively informative classes and three books on the subject, recently applied his social media marketing knowledge for North Carolina’s Small Business Center advisory group. Having taught at NC community college Small Business Centers (SBC) since 2006, he was selected to confer with several schools and committees to look at how to enhance and improve the SBC main website, a project that has deeper meaning than mere design changes for this dedicated instructor.
“The Small Business Centers of North Carolina are valuable assets for advancing our state’s economic growth,” says Brossman. “It is gratifying to help spread the knowledge of the valuable resources provided at NC community colleges which help small businesses, micro businesses and sole proprietors to expand their expertise and prosper.”
Working together with SBC Directors advisory group through webinars and phone consultation, Brossman helped craft an action plan to update the main SBC site and enhance its effectiveness. Raleigh, N.C. (April 13, 2010) – The Big Bad Ball, an annual black tie fundraiser presented by The Capital City Club’s Young Executives, announces the 2011 planning committee. The tenth annual gala, which benefits Hospice of Wake County, will be held Saturday, October 1st from 7p.m. – 1a.m. at the Capital City Club in Raleigh.
“The Big Bad Ball is always one of the highlights of our fundraising year, but this year’s event is extra special since 2011 marks our 10th anniversary. We at Hospice of Wake County are most appreciative of all the volunteers who have been involved with the event over the years and to all who have attended,” said Michael Blanchard, Vice President of Development for Hospice of Wake County. “Their efforts and support have helped make hospice care possible for hundreds of patients who otherwise might have been denied much-needed services at the end of life.”
Blanchard further noted that the thanks come not only from the staff of hospice but also from the family members of our patients. The husband of one patient recently wrote, “All the hospice team should be thanked for the marvelous help and support given to me, my wife and our family. Everyone was professional, caring, informative and patient. I cannot thank them enough for getting all of us through this ordeal.”
