Writers’ Forum features “Team Tokyo” at St. Andrews College at Laurinburg NC, Sept. 4th 8PM

Inspiration from the Orient will be on display this evening at the Writers’ Forum.

“Team Tokyo” includes artist Richard Grassi, poet Michael Saleeby and writer Martin Brossman, all current or former residents of Japan and graduates of St. Andrews.

Grassi, a self-proclaimed “artist, teacher and ne’er do well”, lives in Ishikawa, Japan, where he’s had numerous exhibitions of his artwork, which can be viewed at

www.richardgrassi.com. His most recent exhibit was at the Twenty-first Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa. He has also just produced a book of drawings and essays entitled Sketches of the Cotswolds. The work will be available beginning in October on Amazon.com.Although he spent much of his young adult life in Japan teaching English, Saleeby currently teaches closer to his alma mater. He is currently an English professor at Florence-Darlington Technical College. In addition to producing poetry and teaching, Saleeby also provides tutoring, translation and tours of Japan.

Brossman, who spent time in Japan in his younger days, currently serves as the director of Martin Brossman and Associates, “an organization committed to supporting people in living the lives they love” based in Raleigh. His work as a speaker, trainer and author has allowed Brossman to share his insights throughout the region. His latest published work, Finding Our Fire – Enhancing men’s connection to heart, passion and strength was released this past spring.
